What’s Next?
This time and space and support and thought has given me chance to really explore what I want from a new project. I am grateful for the opportunity that Disconsortia has given me to explore both my art and my social justice. In recent years, I have mainly concentrated on my writing skills in theatre and neglected the devising side of my work. My intention with the seeds of this project is to create work with other queer crips about what it is to dream.
The next steps involve applying for a project grant from the Arts Council and finding ways of working that are safe for my community during this Covid Crisis. It also means I will be searching for support and advice from theatre companies who I judge to be allies. The following pages contain the beginnings of a budget and notes to create an application. My hope is that they will serve as a reminder to me and useful to other disabled artists perhaps beginning their journey.

About Me and My Work
I have been active as a professional theatre writer and director since 2012. I tell stories that stem from the richness of the world around me and offers a window into ‘the other’. My work revels in the space between the real and imagined, the logical and the magical, the known and the unknown.
I am applying for support for research and development on a new theatre production, Queer Crip Dreams. The idea for this project began to percolate when I was asked to produce a new piece of work for Disconsortia’s “At The Table”. As I began to think through that work, I became very aware of the way we tell stories being very white, very abled bodied and very male heteronormative. As a disabled queer woman I want to explore how those on the margins structure stories and how those structures influence both their physical dreams and their ambitions.
I plan to create a touring theatre production exploring the idea and reality of dreaming when you live an experience on the outskirts of society.
The aim of research and development is:

The aim of research and development is:
- To generate creative material and establish the project team for touring theatre production
- To engage with community partners who can inform the work and provide feedback from lived experience
- To share research and development with audiences, other artists and theatre managers, gaining critical feedback on work-in-progress and building regional and national interest in the 2021 tour
